Lost and Found

Sternfeld leaves Vienna for Taipei on a secret mission: he is to discover the source of pirated CDs and to videotape them being sold. But he runs into problems immediately upon arrival in Taiwan – his Chinese contact isn’t anywhere to be found and Sternfeld aimlessly wanders around the unfamiliar city feeling completely lost. Even when he finally does catch up with Mr Won, it doesn’t bring him any closer to his goal: his Chinese counterpart senses danger and backs out. Only after meeting Tchang, a divorcee whose separation from her children is becoming unbearable, do things take a turn for the better. Sternfeld uses the unhappy woman to fulfil his assignment, but the relationship which he considered as purely functional, begins to change... (Karlovy Vary International Film Festival)
