Where do we come from? Where are we going? Why? How? How was it ... before? And what will come after? For centuries, man has been asking himself this kind of questions. And for centuries, different answers have been given, hypotheses refuted and new ones put forward. The Scramble for Bones is the third part in a series of four in which Alain Robak (filmmaker) and Yves Coppens (scientist) prove that science can be amusing. With the help of old films, cartoons, video material, simulations, and complete with a stimulating voice-over, the film tries to answer the question when man exactly came into existence, and how. The makers of this series show the development of science on the basis of 'errors' committed in the past (and still today?). For example, not very long ago people assumed that the earth was flat. But particularly these 'incorrect' assumptions have stimulated further research and have consequently broadened our knowledge. (International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam)
