Warten auf den Sommer

A 90-year-old woman has spent her entire life working by a lake in the Bavarian mountains. She is the owner of a traditional cafe built at the beginning of the last century. In her youth, she had to give up her dreams to take over the family business. When the family parted, she remained on her own and her work became the centre of her lonely life. The old woman is strongly tied to the nature around her. The rhythm of the lake and the woman’s movements at times seem to become one. While the body of water seems to be filled with an incessant energy, the old woman is carried away by her yearnings into a foreign country, the country of dreams. The film takes its time, follows the curves of the water to create a meditative portrait filled by the mystical strength of the place. (DOK.fest München)
