Born in Nancy from a French father and a Transylvanian Hungarian mother, no more remembering her, Zoltán comes to Nagyvárad with a medical student group from Paris. All of a sudden he starts to behave like a madman, and he is taken to the local mental asylum. Those living here, victims of their circumstances, are all normal, sensible and wise people in their own ways. Zoltán finds friends and a girlfriend among them, only the source of the Hungarian folksong heard at nights he dares not to recognise. The authorities decide to close down the hospital, and the patients, attacked by the population of the town, disperse. Zoltán travels back home to Paris, but soon returns. Now he does look for the source of the folksong, a beautiful, sorrowful, blond woman, in order to ask her to forgive him for having failed to look for her for such a long time. (HungariCom)
