Biografia

As a producer of Juno, Mason Novick received Academy Award, Golden Globe Award, and Producers Guild of America Award nominations on behalf of the movie's Best Picture nods. He and his fellow producers shared an AFI Award on behalf of the film's selection as one of the Movies of the Year, as well as the Independent Spirit Award for Best Feature. Juno grossed over $200 million worldwide, and received many additional honors including Oscar nominations for Best Director (Jason Reitman) and Best Actress (Ellen Page), winning the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay (Diablo Cody).
Mr. Novick graduated from the University of Arizona and then moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in the film industry. Starting out as an assistant at ICM, he was eventually promoted to an agent in the motion picture literary department. As an agent, some of the films he helped put together included Snakes on a Plane, directed by David R. Ellis, and the Underworld franchise, launched with director Len Wiseman.
He then segued into a career as an independent producer, executive-producing the sleeper hit Red Eye, directed by Wes Craven and starring Rachel McAdams and Cillian Murphy. As a producer of (500) Days of Summer, starring Golden Globe Award nominee Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel, Mr. Novick was again a Golden Globe and Spirit Award nominee on behalf of the movie's Best Picture nods. The movie was a breakthrough for its director Marc Webb, and for its screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber, who won the Spirit Award for Best Screenplay.
Mr. Novick's subsequent films as producer have included Jennifer's Body, directed by Karyn Kusama from Diablo Cody's original screenplay, starring Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried; Young Adult, directed by Jason Reitman from Ms. Cody's screenplay, for which Charlize Theron received Golden Globe and Critics' Choice Movie Award nominations; Paradise, written and directed by Ms. Cody, starring Julianne Hough, Russell Brand, and Octavia Spencer; and the soon-to-be-released Hidden, starring Alexander Skarsgård and Andrea Riseborough for writer/directors Matt and Ross Duffer.
His projects in development at his company, MXN, include Sweet Valley High, adapted by Diablo Cody from the classic book series; an adaptation of Richard Aleas' Hard Case Crime novel Little Girl Lost, with Jonathan Levine directing; an adaptation of the novel Breathers; When We First Met, a comedy to be directed by Jamie Travis from John Whittington's original screenplay; and an original feature idea by director Marc Webb, Age of Rage.
Mr. Novick manages clients including writer/director Diablo Cody, screenwriter/author Chad Kultgen, and screenwriters Josh Heald and John Whittington.
