Swiss author, screenwriter, and director Jeanne Waltz mainly works in Portugal, where she has lived for many years. Before directing her own films, she worked as an art director and scriptwriter, notably with Teresa Villaverde, Paulo Rocha, and Joaquim Pinto. She made her first feature, Daqui p'rá Alegria, in 2003. Her film Parting Shot (2007) won the Swiss Film Award for Best Screenplay. In addition to her directing career, Waltz has also worked a lecturer at the École cantonale d'art de Lausanne.
