Mr. Owens is an Anglo-Ghanaian writer/director who is passionate about elevating the international profile of African film. His unique vision is to bring a marriage of gripping narratives, exquisite cinematography, and compelling performances to African cinema. He is intent on portraying Africans as active agents in films, rather than background for Western actors. He wants the world to see a cinema that presents Africans as a diverse population with a variety of desires, experiences and environments, and that breaks free of the recurring storylines of Africans as victims. He is currently focusing on creating thought-provoking horror narratives that act as metaphors for lived experiences.
