Biografia

Born and raised in Arizona, Georgina is a first-generation Mexican American. She received her BFA in Media Arts from the University of Arizona where she directed and wrote several short films that dealt with issues facing young women. Georgina then attended the prestigious American Film Institute (AFI) where she received her MFA in directing. Her thesis short film, One Night It Happened, has screened at several film festivals, including the 2003 Rotterdam International Film Festival, and won first place for Best Picture at the Zoie Sexy Shorts Film Festival. Since premiering in competition at Sundance 2005, Georgina's first feature-length film, How the Garcia Girls Spent Their Summer, has gone on to screen at several festivals worldwide, picking up awards at the RIVERRUN FILM FESTIVAL (Audience Award); the MOSCOW FILM FESTIVAL (Jury Award); the Paris Festival (Critic's Prize); and receiving Special Mention at SAN SEBASTIAN.
