Agniia Galdanova studied journalism at the Russian State Social University in Moscow. In 2012, she moved to Berlin and began studying "Practical Filmmaking" at the Met Film School Berlin. She picked up her first experience as a director with various music videos and short films. In 2019, she graduated with a further degree from the Marina Razbezhkina and Mikhail Ugarov's School of Documentary Film and Theatre. One Step Forward, One Step Back (2020) was her first full-length documentary film.
