Biografia

Penny Panayotopoulou (b. 1959, Athens) studied law at the University of Athens and film direction at Stavrakos film school. In 1982-85 she lived in London, where she graduated in film directing from the Polytechnic of Central London (University of Westminster). She earned a name with her short films, which participated in numerous festivals, winning a variety of awards. The dazzling international run of her feature debut Hard Goodbyes: My Father (Diskoli apocheretismi: O babas mou, 2002) began at the 55th Locarno IFF (Best Actor Award). In the period separating her debut from September, she wrote, produced, and directed a number of documentaries.
