Biografia
Born in 1915. Ichikawa worked at J.O. Studio in anime production, then made his directorial debut in 1948 with Hana Hiraku. He took on the challenge of working in varied genres from comedy, literary work, mystery, period drama to documentary, creating films such Conflagration (1958), Ten Dark Women (1961), Tokyo Olympiad (1965), The Makioka Sisters (1983), and Dora-heita (2000). He won the Akira Kurosawa Award at the 19th TIFF. The Inugamis, which is a remake of his own work, was screened as the closing film at the 19th TIFF. He passed away in 2008.
