Kochanice króla (2008)

angielski The story of the Boleyn siblings, and it’s also incidentally about Henry VIII. It’s an excellent treatment that opens up the path to The Tudors series in a great way. For viewers who aren’t fans of history, they may just see some unexpected dramatic twists. ;)

Namastey London (2007)

angielski The fun factor in Namastey London 100% resonates and there are some clever film references, including the one to Lagaan and cricket, so it quite fittingly deserves five stars. Katrina Kaif as Jazz is just as crazy as Lolle from Berlin, Berlin. When I watched it the second time I realized that I had no reservations about it and that I was enjoying every minute of this very entertaining trip through London to the Taj Mahal. The most memorable song is "Rafta Rafta"... :) And the catchphrase Amitabh Bachchan or Prince Charles?

Ty i ja (2008)

angielski U Me Aur Hum is a distinctive retelling of the Hollywood film that was dominated by Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams in the American version, this time starring the beautiful and very talented Kajol and Ajay Devgan, a real-life married couple. The Bollywood version, of course, is full of revelry and gives out a plethora of emotions and dancing in spades (I consider "Jee Le" to be the best song, while "Saiyaan" and "Phatte" were also nice). Yet it is in an artful symbiosis with excellent drama and a very strong main plot. I've only had this type of a perfect point experience in the past thanks to Baron Münchhausen. That's why I forgive the work of the cinematographer, who could have given in to the vertigo-inducing style. In addition, the luxury cruise ship setting is visually inspiring enough on its own. And, of course, the dual time plane of 25 years was not handled appropriately (the costumes and sets were not differentiated even a little), but this turned out to be surprisingly positive in the end, and I was thus able to absolutely experience the fairy tale of the repeated newfound love for a single woman.

Attack No. 1 (1969) (serial)

angielski Attack No. 1 is about the main character from a volleyball team and her coach. When I watched it I was just as excited about Mila as I was about Clementine, who I considered the absolute best at the time. The shoujo anime Attack No. 1 was in the manga of the same name from 1968, which had 12 episodes and was published until 1970. The series was then broadcast from 1969 to 1971 and ran for 104 episodes, so there was really nothing left unfinished. Although I never succumbed to the likes of genre hits SailorMoon or Candy, every now and then I'm still willing to watch Mila and her smoldering femininity.

Balletdanserinden (1911)

angielski The second and final film of the great Nordisk film couple answers the story of the spectacular The Black Dream with the slightly more comedic tone of The Ballet Dancer. Asta Nielsen and Valdemar Psilander are here to unravel the story of marital infidelity... and although the couple's domestic happiness is not improved - quite the contrary - Asta and Valdemar dominate the screen like no other at the time and anywhere around the world.

Den sorte drøm (1911)

angielski The Black Dream tells the melodrama of a beauty queen played by Asta Nielsen before she became Die Asta. Her lover is the attractive Valdemar Psilander. Their first cinematic encounter enchanted film audiences so much that they were almost immediately eager to see the sequel, i.e., The Ballet Dancer. It’s not surprising, as the plot has a lot going for it with several exotic elements, including multiple angles and a circus backstage. It takes place in well-chosen environments, in several salons and, for example, in an artist's studio. I had no doubts about Asta as an actress because she is spectacular as a tragedian. Valdemar Psilander was a bit overshadowed by her, but he still managed the strong congruence perfectly. I also have no problem with the narration being in large chunks, especially when secession is still in full swing.

Come imparai ad amare le donne (1966)

angielski Love Parade? It's madness of the coarsest grain, highlighted only by the completely inconsistent casting of different personalities of the time such as Zarah Leander or Michèle Mercier (or Anita Ekberg and Heinz Erhardt). It's a good thing that the aging diva was able to give us one last performance of her hits "Eine Frau wird erst schön durch die Liebe," known from Magda, and Bei Dir war es immer so schön. In contrast to the scenes of this red-headed matron is a separate storyline of modern-day Franziska, who in playing Marie Antoinette definitely convinced me that Angélique should have been set a hundred years later. It would then fit better with the second half of The Tricky Game of Love.

Vstanou noví bojovníci (1950)

angielski Using a few emblematic examples from his own family, Antonín Zápotocký created a new fictionalized history of the workers' movement. In The Red Glow over Kladno, he gave himself the role of an infallible hero, while in New Fighters Shall Arise he left this role to his father and left himself only in good management from the cradle. In a way, it’s too bad that not all of Zápotocký's works have been adapted to film, as we are only witnessing these two chapters. Compared to The Red Glow over Kladno, I see in New Fighters Shall Arise a more digestible cinematic tale that, dressed up in revolutionary exuberance, acts almost like a naive fairy tale about an evil overlord. He is punished and the whole "flock" rejoices in the coming re-education of the entire world. However, there could have been fewer of the extreme performances of the all-capable Krejči.

Crash: Niebezpieczne pożądanie (1996)

angielski There’s a bunch of perverts who don't know how to get laid anymore, so they focus on the adrenaline associated with car accidents... I thought it was a great topic when I was 15, and after a while, I bought the DVD, but I didn't see it until today. So what did I think? It’s boring. The withering cast is probably the worst I've seen in years. Deborah Kara Unger is the queen of all the C-movies and I am left wondering what happened to James Spader, who was so great in Wolf but who now only stars in B-movies.

Eternal Lust (1996)

angielski This film was later remade as part of Deep Inside Stacy Valentine and Deep Inside Shayla LaVeaux. It’s got the perfect genre plot - Hollywood star Nola Redmond, who, although she has reigned the screen for over fifty years and looks no more than thirty, gives her memoirs to the young assistant of Eros Publishing Ireland. She hosts her in her house and tells her all the juicy details of her career. Up-and-comer Stacy Valentine literally shines as the inexperienced assistant, and Shayla LaVeaux isn't bad at all either. Tony Tedeschi as Rex is just routine.
