From the point of view of Anny Ondra's career, this is an extremely important film, a Czechoslovak-German-Swiss co-production that took her away from her home forever. It's a shame that Daughters of Eve only functions as a rare collector's item due to the lack of a copy in the NFA. The film has a lot to offer and I was very satisfied. The film features the playful group of Anny, her shy and sweet Karel Lamač, Theodor Pištěk, and Máňa Ženíšková and several other foreign faces. Apart from that, it has a wonderfully ironic story, interesting exteriors, expensive costumes, and even Anny in a swimsuit. :)

This is very good. This is what it looked like when the Czechs went to shoot in Germany and brought it home. :) To this day, one of my strongest experiences from the Czech 1920s, rivaled only by The Flames of Life. The fact is that both films are well-informed by the work of the Germans. Vladimir Majer is a very good villain and the Ondra-Lamač duo cannot disappoint. The awakened Rudolfinum Charles and his encounter with modern achievements are impressive, as is the then still very distinguished Anny in so many excellent costumes. This is an ideal film to recommend to those just learning about this film industry.

What Fritz Lang achieved in his two-part films is undoubtedly exceptional. To this day, I still vacillate between the mastery of Aud Egede Nissen and Gertrud Welcker, who dazzled me more, because only Rudolf Klein-Rogge is a definitive god at first glance. The brilliant story of Mabus continues to be overshadowed by the mere fact that his story was set in the 1990s (!), which really wasn't necessary. So back to the 1920s and nowhere else.

Mauritz Stiller and Selma Lagerlöf may not be a clear equation of satisfaction in every case, but when it comes to Arne, I find myself gasping because I don't want to leave those snowy plains. He hadn't had Greta there yet, but she wouldn't have had anything to do here anyway. :)

Asterix and the Vikings was the first animated Asterix film that I watched in a movie theater, and it's an adaptation of the comic book "Asterix and the Normans" (1966), which I once coincidentally read as the first comic book in the Asterix saga. It's a beautiful memory.

I consider this installment in the Asterix cartoon series comparable to its predecessors and successor. It’s got everything, including pirates and an argument over fish, and Asterix's adventures with other cultures are not out of place in terms of innovation. Sometimes I'd like to see his trip to Spain in a movie, for example. Overall, I have no problem with this "problematic" piece.

In the post-revolutionary euphoria, we devoted many evenings at home to various selections from Hanna-Barbera on VHS, and I particularly remember The Flintstones, Hey There, It's Yogi Bear, and The Huckleberry Hound Show. The Tom and Jerry show was famous before that, and much more so, which is of course still true today. I never had any interest in Scooby-Doo, Johnny Quest, and similar shows, but I’ll say that something along the lines of Pixie and Dixie and Mr. Jinks was still good. In terms of The Flintstones, I’ve now seen the second feature film and I just wondered where the end of the first one was, given that it's so much better... Now I'm refreshing my memories as much as I can and I'm still full of awe. :) I consumed all six series of the original series in English and immersed myself in the complex world of Bedrock. There are a plethora of sequels and TV movies yet to come and I'm looking forward to them immensely. :)) For example, the first movie turned out great.

I've never seen the series, but I think this was enough to give me a good idea about it. It’s the old familiar world of Hanna-Barbera, this time in the future. A dressed-up clone of the very successful The Flintstones in pale blue. It’s too much of a product of its time nowadays, but so are all similar American families. Whether it's cartoons or live-action humor, it all works on the same basis and it's up to us to ride on the same wave. The next thing I want to see is definitely a movie where the Jetsons meet the Flintstones - that would be a bigger hit. :)

Interesting. I saw this in the movie theater back when I couldn't read the subtitles fast enough. :) This year I recalled the maximum of the good old Hanna-Barbera features and, surprisingly, I found this film to stand the test of time very well. Moreover, in the context of the original series from the 1960s, it looks even better and is (even by today's standards) well-cast. John Goodman is the king, Elizabeth Taylor couldn't have made a better choice towards the end of her career, and Halle Berry? She was still pleasantly new back then.
