An entertaining slasher with an interesting premise. Putting a six-foot serial killer inside a short, shy and retiring blond works mainly thanks to Vaughn’s talent at acting anything from a taciturn psychopath to a babbling high school girl. But Newton swaps her zombie-like step for confident strides... Luckily, Christopher Landon doesn’t wait a minute to make fun of genre clichés, even ridiculing himself. The juicy gore and great horror atmosphere (a great opening) does much to counterbalance the shoddy screenplay. This had many more possibilities to be explored, but they were ignored. But still, a solid above-average movie.

A down-to-earth disaster nail-biter with an unexpectedly realistic first half. After the excellent first hour it jumps feet first into the realm of Hollywood and things start to work miraculously. Vaughn approaches this in the same way as Seňor Spielberg in War of the Worlds, concentrating on an ordinary family with Butler in the role of a dad chosen to survive. It chugs along marvelously and there’s always something happening. Surprisingly, the government does what it should; the other characters are not one-dimensional; the powerful scenes with fire raining down and blast waves work splendidly. Movies like this a needed in this day and age; it makes you realize that things could be much, much worse. Covid is nothing in comparison to Clark.

A funny, relax movie in Zombieland style with monsters instead of living dead. O'Brian is a nice guy and surprisingly frequently starts to act much more seriously, contravening the expected clichés. The monsters are done well and Beltrami’s music is really good. A pleasant surprise.

A formally precise and linguistically exquisite picture about the writing of the screenplay for Citizen Kane. Unfortunately, apart from context of that period, it offers nothing new. Filming according to his father’s screenplay, Fincher nurtured all aspects of this heart-felt project and the way he presents the topic in the style of a forties movie is very appropriate. You can’t tell the difference. The actors are great down to the last one. The music is perfect: Reznor and Russ are brutally moderate, obediently serving the story. But it was strange to listen to Trent’s typical piano playing in a movie that clearly must have been filmed eighty years ago...

It's hard to believe this is real and not some bizarre reality show. A redneck zoo where animals and people are killed and murders are planned shows the true face of the American dream.

A many-layered piece of movie history about a man who had everything and nothing. Welles is absolutely perfect as the charismatic Kane and with his sure director’s hand he leads the picture through various genres from fictitious documentary to the crime movie ending.

The name suits him... An episode stuffed full of chopped up people and other things with a laser sword. A dirty, gloomy planet and a western-style duel at the end? I love this stuff. Although some of the decisions and twists seem rather bizarre, but when you see Grogu with the silver ball, or sleeping in a hammock, you forget all about that.

In the end this is classic people movie with a heart, but that was a shitload of crap he had to go through (based on a true story). Worth seeing. Amy Adams makes the most of her role as stoned mom and she steals the most memorable scenes of the movie. And Glen Close as gramma (who sets light to drunken gramps) steals all the rest of them. In Hillbilly Elegy, Ron Howard deals tried and tested cards with the confidence of a hard-bitten cardsharp and skillfully recounts this story about a white trash hero. Oscar nominations are in the bag. The soundtrack is also great, once again from the excellently minimalistic Zimmer.

Carnahan’s early Xmas gift to connoisseurs. Even though this is rather a cheap, nostalgically bloody production with just average special effects and an uncomplicated, nineties story, it has so many nods and so much self-parody that it’s easy to forgive. The time loop is the catalyst, but Boss Level is more about love of action, old video games and family. Frank Grillo is great as both ultimate killer and caring father. He reels off great one-liners, one after another, so you can’t help but root for him. Gibson enjoys himself greatly in the role of colonel with a savior complex who likes listening to himself speak. Naomi Watts manages to chisel out the most complex of characters in just two scenes. Great fun, but I’m very sad that I won’t be able to see it in the movie theater, thanks to Covid. There's something I don't like about him. He has that... trait. ... The overachiever who makes up for a lack of talent with hustle.

Shame that this is that cheap type of animation where they make little pictures move. Visually uninspiring. An adaptation of one of my favorite King stories; and Kiefer’s enchanting voice does a lot too. But this story about a man who eats himself works much better in text form. And this certainly applies to Hill’s Twittering visit to the Circus of the Dead which in its visual form was terribly predictable. Cartoon gore isn’t scary... Basically, this is for people too lazy to read... and for fans of Kiefer, King Sr. and King Jr.
