I watched the original and already half-century(!) old film when I was seventeen, and I remember that I found it very strong and bold for its time, but also very talky, drawn out and unfinished in a sense. The Netflix remake sticks pretty closely to the original, but has the disadvantage that nowadays a film like this can't shock anyone anymore. Acting-wise, it's handled very well, though I had a problem with some of the characters - which I'm sure was the primary intention. It's almost frightening how toxic and dangerous some friendships can be. P.S. Jim Parsons portrayed two "royally mean 4% scumbags" this year (see Hollywood).

Game of Werewolves impresses from the very beginning with a stylish opening with a comic touch, after which nothing much happens for fifty minutes, but from the "frying of the little fingers" it starts to gain momentum and stops only at the very end. The film mixes horror, suspense and black comedy in a passable way, which it manages to do quite well for most of its running time. Had it been a quarter of an hour shorter and less slapstick, I'd have no problem going higher with the rating. I can't fail to mention the decently creepy werewolf make-up effects, which added to the film's (humorous) rawness. Better three stars!

"I found a new book which only tells truth. It's called Facebook." Despite its cult status, the first Borat didn't quite get me as excited as many viewers, but I still saw it as an aptly ironic comedy that didn't mince words on any front. The sequel appealed to me in much the same way, though its atmosphere shifted more into the waters of the drama-family genre, but still with an unmistakable ironic-critical tone. Sacha Baron Cohen as Borat is once again insane, making fun of Trump, the coronavirus, Americans, Jews, women, feminists and many others, which he does brilliantly in places, and a little less so in others. Borat 2 is a textbook example of a film for which I can understand any rating!

The original The Witches with Anjelica Huston is almost a horror fairy tale, with make-up effects and mouse characters contributing to its creepy atmosphere. Robert Zemeckis's remake certainly didn't skimp on the CGI, which has its bright and shady sides. The animals – mice, cats, chicken, etc. – looked very artificial. I think even a Stuart Little from the late 90s looked more realistic. That said, as far as the visuals of the witches are concerned, I didn't mind the CGI and it even enhanced their creepy look. Octavia Spencer is incredibly likeable and Anne Hathaway, even though she was overly theatrical at times, definitely enjoyed her role. Story-wise, the film doesn't have much to surprise, but it was nice to see that this version differs from the original in a few moments. All in all, a weak three stars!

Knitcromancer addresses the generation gap between grandmother and grandchild in a subtly creepy way. Who knew knitted kittens could confuse people so much.

Despite the interesting idea, The Colours of Evil failed to wring enough humour out of the story, which is a shame. It could have been a hilarious hybrid of The Addams Family and Hello Kitty, but it's bland and unfunny.

Slimtime's message is obvious, but it is delivered in such a futile way that the enlightening point is completely lost. Moreover, from an animation point of view, it is not a nice piece that could fool people at least visually.

It can be incredibly difficult to impress someone you like at first sight, so if you happen to have a time machine at your disposal, you can hone that first impression to perfection. But as it happens in science, it will probably not be without side effects. An imaginative, funny and briskly filmed one-man show about the pitfalls of interpersonal attraction and time travel.

Dustin has somewhat simpler animation and doesn't have much to surprise, but it offers a nice and informative story about a very unusual and unexpected friendship.

Shine is visually a nicely made short, which could also be considered as a kind of fantasy scene from everyday life in "nature". The story is simple, but you still learn a lesson.
