Fack ju Göhte 2 (2015)

angielski I just love these movies. Not only do the creators strive to make it funny from the beginning - and it is indeed funny - but they also give it a storyline that makes sense and is quite original. However, it's mainly based on the characters, who are simply excellent, and I would love to come back to them again. Karoline Herfurth just charmed me, so hopefully I will see more of her next time.

Gęsia skórka (2015)

angielski This film is far from perfect, and the two young male heroes annoyed me so much that I hoped they would die, which of course, given the genre, wasn't possible. But Jack Black was fantastic here, exactly what the role needed, and the overall concept was absolutely excellent. I hope to finally read something by Stine in the future.

Gangi Nowego Jorku (2002)

angielski I didn't remember the film much, just the basic outline, so I was quite glad to revisit it. And once again, I had before me the evidence of the mastery of several individuals. Martin Scorsese's excellent direction, where every scene (action-packed, dramatic, romantic, comedic, and grand) is brilliantly conceived. Unique performances by Daniel and Leonardo, who are masters and perfectly embody their roles. And then it's only Cameron who spoils it for me; she didn't fit in at all, and the somewhat sentimental ending, but it certainly doesn't reach Spielberg's "qualities."

The Big Chill (1983)

angielski I like conversational films based on interesting stories, but most importantly, they tend to have great actors. And here, perhaps not a single actor was chosen wrongly; they all perfectly fit their roles, both the men and the women. This is like a cinematic ballad about how beautifully screwed up life is. Either way, it's always worth living it because you can laugh.

Jian gui 2 (2004)

angielski This sequel maintains the good quality of the first film, follows its own path, and has its flaws, just like the first film. Primarily, it's the fact that these films are quite cliché, and it's pretty clear how they will unfold. Then there are these great scenes that literally engulf you, and you'll enjoy their horror. It is above average, but this horror film is not exceptional.

A Christmas Star (2015)

angielski A pretty poorly executed Christmas story that desperately tries to target children, Christmas, and how the magic of Christmas and that childlike magic can change a person in the end, even if he’s quite the asshole. There was one bright moment in the film, though, and that was the song at the end, which was very well performed, and I enjoyed it. Next time, let’s just have the song without the film.

Odlot (1971)

angielski Miloš Forman moved across Western Europe to the United States and did there what he had done best in Czechoslovakia. He filmed people. He first studied them and then he extracted exactly the right moments that will look good on the screen and make you think. Although the scene with the joint probably sticks most in your head, there are more memorable scenes that offer insights into the Americans of the time.

Piotruś. Wyprawa do Nibylandii (2015)

angielski I didn't know exactly what to expect from this film and what I ended up getting is... contradictory. The cast is wonderfully chosen, Rooney Mara is excellent, visually it's a beautiful spectacle, but still, it felt immensely flat to me, essentially just a film for show, where what a Peter Pan story should have - the enchantment of childhood and that beautiful carefree feeling - was missing. It just wasn't here.

Krakatit (1948)

angielski A breathtaking spectacle. Otakar Vávra has made a beautifully dreamy noir film, all in a Czech setting and with absolutely unique scenes that you don't see much in Czech cinema. This is simply a beauty to behold; you'll enjoy every scene, even the surreal approach to the whole piece, where I felt like this is the best adaptation I've seen or read in a comic book.

Extinction (2015)

angielski Zombies are a subject matter that's mostly approached as dumb B-movies, but sometimes creators do dare to do something better. The apocalypse is portrayed here with originality, featuring snow, which isn't something you often see in connection with zombies, but primarily it focuses on the characters and their past and present. This leads to the fact that there are strong and weak points. Overall, it was good.
