In God We Trust (2000)

angielski In this short film, Jason Reitman demonstrates his strengths, particularly in being funny, creating an engaging plot, and ultimately rallying the audience to root for the main protagonist. Some jokes are truly excellent, and it's wonderful to see that they stem from the chosen concept rather than being generic jokes.

American Juggalo (2011)

angielski A great documentary about how people try to justify that they are actually funny and pitiful. What is said here comes from the mouths of people who are far from sobriety or sanity. Whether they are surgeons or scientists, it doesn't change much that they are ridiculous individuals trying in any way to justify why it's so hard for them to find a reason to live. Except for the fact that they gather for one week a year and this is what they become.

Paths of Hate (2010)

angielski Excellent animation and a great visual side really help this Polish film. The individual moments are captured well here, and sometimes you have a feeling like you are really sitting in that airplane. Could it be true that evil resides in each of us?

Zdarzenie w Ox-Bow (1942)

angielski Another wonderful example of how deep a western can be. Actually, it's one of the first that showed westerns aren't just about shooting and pretty women. Henry Fonda is the star, but there are other brilliant characters. When Anthony Quinn starts acting, you immediately see that he is truly someone special. The film has a great point, but even better is the overall execution of the "trial." It's just a shame that at that time, the depiction of violence had to be so mild. Some scenes were practically begging for it, and I think it would have enhanced the whole experience even more.

Sniper 2 (2002) (film telewizyjny)

angielski Primarily, it is a copy of the first film. Once again, Tom Berenger returns to be the right mentor for a new person. However, he goes back into action, which this time is connected to the war against terrorism. One almost wants to say, what better moment could Sniper have chosen for a comeback?

Oculus (2013)

angielski Oculus isn't a horror that particularly disappointed me, but it's also not a groundbreaking horror that amazed me. I expected it to be better and more narratively intriguing, but its plot makes it just an ordinary horror film. The formal aspects really help elevate this rather ordinary story, and some editing choices create an experience that feels unexpected, like something new. It's not groundbreaking, but that doesn't mean it's not enjoyable to watch or that the film won't be an experience.

Sniper (1993)

angielski Was it already possible to see slow-motion shots of bullets in 1993? That's something you don't see every day. And it really works for those lunatics. The jungle sniper story is somewhat run-of-the-mill, but the overall approach and the effort to come up with something new intrigued me. That's why I'm giving it a higher rating. Maybe someone will notice and agree with me.

The Seventh Victim (1943)

angielski A beautiful example that atmospheric horrors were being made at a time when most of us were still quite young. This is a great film, especially in terms of its atmosphere. It's an excellent demonstration of playing with light and dark, but above all, with a compelling story. You don't see this so much these days either. Hardly at all, actually.

Live Nude Girls (2014)

angielski I was expecting, quite naively, that it would be a proper wild ride, approaching something like porn, but it’s quite soft, where it's just about girls occasionally grabbing each other’s breasts. I also thought it would be a pretty good comedy, but that definitely wasn't the case. So in the end, it’s just a pretty pointless and long film where it's all about the breasts, some of which aren’t that great.

The Hornet's Nest (2013)

angielski Yes, you won't see that many shots from the action again, on the other hand, I don't think there are really interesting shots here. But what it definitely manages to convey to the viewer are the emotions. Yes, war is unnecessary, but could similar films and similar fates exist without it?
