Tomb Raider (2018)

angielski Awesome shit! Oscar-winning actress Alicia Vikander is naturally gorgeous, young, battle-hardened and even though her breasts aren't like Angelina's, it doesn't matter her acting is far more impressive. The film has a very nice pacing, Lara is nice to look at and gets an incredible set of lines throughout the film that by the end I left the cinema more broken than she was. The first half is highlighted by a bike chase that is more intense than any other car chase, and an impressive shipwreck that takes your breath away with its suspense. Once Lara finds herself on the island, it's an adventure romp that takes the best of Indiana Jones while sticking beautifully to the game's template, plus a sleazy Walton Goggins playing the villain and good-guy Daniel Wu, whom I'm a little sorry he didn't showcase any martial arts. The finale will make you think of The Mummy , so those who love tombs, black magic, traps, puzzles will enjoy this film to the fullest. Well I'm thoroughly entertained, I got a nice adventure mix that hasn't been in cinemas for years and trogether with Warcraft, Lara is definitely the best game. I want the sequel as soon as possible, so feel free to go out and contribute! After a second viewing, the enthusiasm has waned slightly, but still a fine affair. 80%

Naznaczony: Ostatni klucz (2018)

angielski The weakest part. It's nice that this time the film focuses on Lin Shaye and her past, but I found it absolutely devoid of atmosphere, not a single jump-scare worked, the finale seemed very short and I didn't find the exorcism colleagues very funny. Visually it's classy and still more watchable than most other horror movies, but for me a useless episode that just recycles, doesn't scare and doesn't really entertain much. 55%

Anihilacja (2018)

angielski I was captivated by the trailer the other day, I'm not so impressed with the film in the end, but it's still a decent genre film with an excellent idea. Four female scientists, each specialized in something different, go to explore a new area where the laws of nature don't apply and where no one has ever come back alive. It's great idea, but I felt it didn't get as much space as it could have. The film is unnecessarily hampered by flashbacks that aren't very entertaining and it shows in the pacing. There's a great scene with a white crocodile and a mutant bear that wreaks havoc in a cabin and there's one excellent gore scene with a ripped jaw, that really had me going crazy with joy. The final philosophical half hour didn't impress me that much and I found the finale quite confusing. I would definitely add more mutated animals and anything from nature in general to make it more satisfying. The film is definitely worth recommending for the idea, the visuals and the bear, though it’s not great. 70%.

Gwiezdne wojny: Ostatni Jedi (2017)

angielski I tried it again and the Star Wars curse was not broken and once again I experienced 150 minutes of martyrdom. Jedi, First Order, The Force, Skywalker, Resistance, Obi-Wan, it takes a special dictionary to know and navigate all the terms. I didn't find it funny at all, the action is minimal and very uninteresting, the effects feel like something out of the 90's, the story is uninteresting and the pacing is plodding. Anyway, I suffered through this and I probably won't give the next part a chance. Star Wars is the only major film franchise that has completely passed me by and I still don't understand its interest. 20%

Czerwona jaskółka (2018)

angielski Sexy Jennifer Lawrence in an erotically cool spy thriller. I definitely think that if David Fincher had been in charge (he was supposed to direct it) it would have been a bigger hit, but it's still a decent thriller that isn't afraid of nudity and blood. Jennifer Lawrence is very sexy here and shows up full frontal naked, which will please many a male eye, as will the traditionally excellent Joel Edgerton. The hard training Jennifer undergoes in Russia to become a Red Sparrow is filmed very effectively, the psychological weight and erotic tension is omnipresent. At times the 140-minute running time drags in certain sequences and some editing wouldn't hurt, but I didn't find myself downright bored. The final torture and the denouement are excellent. A solid film that avoids the mainstream thanks to its eroticism and brutality and offers an unconventional story that hasn't been in cinemas for a while. 75%

Gieokeui bam (2017)

angielski An excellent mystery psycho thriller that I almost missed, so thank you LangiJ for the lure. At first the film seems like a mundane drama where a family moves into a new house with a room that can't be opened and strange noises coming from it. Soon one of the two brothers is violently attacked and kidnapped, and returns 19 days later with no memory of anything, and his behaviour has changed dramatically. This is more or less just a sketch for the first half, then the film brutally flips on its head, throwing one shocking twist after another, culminating in the brutal murder of the family in the house, for which the film takes full marks from me. It's perfectly thought out, original, suspenseful and unusual. Some may complain that it's too overwrought and not everything would make sense in reality, but I thoroughly enjoyed this thriller and those details don't distract me. I recommend it. Is it me, or is Netflix buying Korea already?? 85%.

Król rozrywki (2017)

angielski A wonderful story and one of the best musicals. The songs are very fine and thankfully not at all annoying. Hugh Jackman as P.T. Barnum is superb, but it's also a pleasure to see Rebecca Ferguson, whose voice brings down not only the house but my apartment, the cool Zac Efron and the gorgeous Zendaya, who is quite possibly a new discovery of beauty. I've always liked the circus environment, so I enjoyed not only the recruitment of talented people, but also the performances themselves. A very nice, moving and beautiful experience.80%

Straight Outta Compton (2015)

angielski I'm not a big fan of Hip Hop and Rap, but I don't mind. F. Gary Gray brought spirit to the film and definitely made the best film in the genre. On the one hand a gangster film about black people having a hard time in America, on the other hand the birth of the current stars in the Hip Hop scene. Ice Cube pulls the whole film, but also the young Snoop Dogg and Doctor Dre are great. There's a lot of swearing, the story is engaging and the action at the hotels after the concert is properly wild. A gritty, sad, engaging story that gave me goosebumps a few times. Fuck the Police. An exceptional experience that I must pay in gold. 90%.

Altered Carbon (2018) (serial)

angielski A sci-fi gem serving up a fanboy's wet dream in nine hours. Altered Carbon has everything a proper series should have and also meets the strictest criteria of the sci-fi genre. Blade Runner-like visuals, Neo Noir detective fiction, Cyberpunk atmosphere, hardcore erotic scenes (no shortage of titties, pussies and even dicks) and, most importantly, dense and nasty gore scenes. Joel Kinnaman plays the main character with grace and the Mexican beauty Martha Higareda is a great cherry on the cake. It's got excellent pacing, great action scenes, nicely dosed twists, a nicely tangled story with multiple lines that fit together like a puzzle at the end, great bad guys, and the twisted world itself is more than impressive. It's very fucked up in places and weaker characters may not be able to stomach it. Torture in virtual reality, you don't want that! And a brothel in space where customers can choose a woman, a man or a 7 year old child is something I've never experienced in exploitation. Satisfying in every way, and if in the second season they go with a program where the dead come back to life to find their killers, then we have something to look forward to again. Number one this year! Scene Highlight: The elevator massacre, the fight with the naked clones, Lizzie in action. 95%.

W lepszym świecie (2010)

angielski I avoided the film for two years, but today I can say that it was in vain. Once again Scandinavia did not disappoint, serving up a steamy thriller about bullying intertwined with a gritty war in Africa, and both lines work perfectly. I liked the child actors and their fathers, there are some uncomfortable gritty scenes and I had a great time throughout, so satisfaction. A solid film in all respects. Very pleased with Ulrich Thomsen from Banshee. 80%
