Epicentrum (2014)

angielski If it were more ambitious, I'd be jumping for joy. I missed the US government, the meteorologists and all the people trying to solve this issue globally here, it unfortunately focuses on only a handful of characters, which bothered me. The effects are great, but the film also moves slowly and before I know it the film is over. 60%

Wang jiao hei ye (2004)

angielski Well, is somebody fucking kidding me 76%? For what? This movie almost gave me a heart attack, a stroke and an epileptic seizure all at once, what the hell was that all about? No action, no fights, no twists, unlikeable characters, no pacing, no sex, mediocre visuals and an uninteresting story, there was nothing in this movie that I expect and demand in movies! Absolutely no interest on my part, it is mostly a crime drama. If I showed this to a girl, she will break up with me immediately! Great for the intellectuals, torture for me! 30%

Beullaindeu (2011)

angielski A quality Korean thriller that is suspenseful from start to finish. The story follows a blind woman (ex-cop) who witnesses a crime, right after which her whole life comes crashing down as a really sleazy killer is on her heels. I loved the over the top gore scene, which will be uncomfortable to watch for most people, and the well-crafted moments, like the scene in the subway or the atmospheric finale. Even though the main character is blind, she still has combat training and is something to watch. Good stuff! 80%

Winogrona smierci (1978)

angielski An excellent raw and dark French ride full of great gore and perfect make-up effects for its time. Really hats off to this film, it rivals even today's slasher and splatter films and most importantly the film has a very unorthodox idea. A very nice surprise. YUM!

Zombeavers (2014)

angielski If someone played me Zombeavers without telling me what year the film was from, I'd guess the 90s. The girls here are gorgeous, and I commend their courage to show up like that, but the rest of it didn't impress me at all. The beavers are artificial, the gore is also poorly done. There is gore and there is gore, it's the same as if I had a stew in a royal restaurant or in some seedy dungeon, the difference and quality is big and I don't like that! Too bad, I was hoping it would be a similar gore ride to Piranha, but I was wrong. Luckily I didn't get diarrhea, and my wrinkles didn't pop out either, so it's watchable. 45%

John Wick (2014)

angielski There's too much hype around John Wick. It's definitely a perfect, adrenaline-powered revenge with a great Keanu Reeves, a great dark atmosphere , but it has it's pros and cons. I personally never bothered with logical flaws, but when Reeves takes down every opponent on a shot without hesitation and suddenly the main scumbag shows up within range and he can't kill him with five shots just because it would spoil the plot seems very stupid and ill thought out to me. When a movie establishes some order and rules, it should follow them. But this is only a minor complaint for me, I was more bothered by the fact that the action didn't add any innovation and was mostly the same every time just spiced up with a different headshot, from a different angle or a quick disarm. I was a bit disappointed, if I compare it with The Raid 2, where you look forward to every new action scene, because you didn't know what was coming and when it appeared on the scene you were pleasantly shocked, it doesn't work here. Maybe I'm too influenced by Asia and sound strict but that's how I feel. But there are plenty of good things here. The light humour is nice and the surprising brutality is more than juicy, but I don't feel up to a fifth star. That said, a solid 75% goes to John Wick, and it's probably the best actioner from the US this year.

Uneun namja (2014)

angielski The best action movie of the year after The Raid 2? Probably yes! Jeong-beom Lee is the definitive dark horse of the Korean film industry, the guy blew me away in 2010 with The Man from Nowhere and this year he struck again and nearly gave me a heart attack. The main character is quite unlikeable, his look reminds me of a hornet, but the professionalism comes through, he's calm and slow not even blinking, quick as lightning and trying to overwhelm emotions. Although the first hour is a bit slower, introducing the characters and developing the story, three elite mercenaries each from a different country, well trained, old friends from the old guard, burst onto the scene and the action inferno begins, during which I personally remembered flicks like Rambo or Die Hard. The film is incredibly brutal and violent. It is indeed a slaughterhouse, the action is amazing, so slick and clear that the choreography makes your jaw drop, there is no shortage of great close-quarters fights as well as awesome gunfights, and the film is also spiced up with some interesting gadgets. Really no complaints, with this movie Asia makes it clear who is the King of Action Movies!!!

Ewolucja planety małp (2014)

angielski Such an intelligent and breathtaking narrative with awesome CGI brings me euphoria. From start to finish, a visually epic and entertaining ride that makes you inhale at the beginning and exhale at the end. Caesar is a proper good guy with all the positive qualities (I'd like to have him as a friend), and Koba on the other hand is an incredible bad ass greedy and eager for war and revenge even his appearance looks incredibly ugly and evil. For me I'm beyond satisfied, but here I was expecting it so I'm not surprised :) 95%

Obłąkani (2014)

angielski I've been looking forward to Stonehearst Asylum since the first trailer and I'm even more surprised at how great it is. We can count the number of insane asylum thrillers on one hand, and for that reason alone we have to appreciate this very atmospheric, superbly directed and acted thriller, which throws so many twists and turns at the audience in the last half hour that I slowly started to squint with joy. A truly awesome cinematic experience with an amazing cast and one of the best final twists in recent times, it put a smile on my face. 80%

Areszt domowy (2014)

angielski I really don't know what was entertaining about this film. I didn't laugh once, I didn't even smile. I'm actually throwing in a third star for the decently action packed ending, otherwise the film let me down big time. 50%
