Gangnam 1970 (2015)

angielski Filmed very solidly, but the music was even better. Unfortunately, the footage is overwhelming, the story uninteresting, and there are so many characters that blend together to the point where it's just not watchable on the first viewing and you just have a mess (it's probably better on a second viewing, but given the running time, you can’t make me). So the bold erotic scenes were surprising, the over-the-top violence was not (it is a Korean gangster movie after all), but I still felt that some scenes were just extra and didn't say anything. As for Lee Min-Ho, he was basically the same as always – I don't care that he was a handsome gangster, what bothered me more about him was his voice, which just didn't fit this kind of character. On the other hand, his work with his eyes, which he used to communicate so much, was very good. Bottom line, an average film for me, but above average filmmaking.

Gank Your Heart (2019) (serial)

angielski The big positive is that the main character isn't stupid and doesn't get fooled in most cases. Plus, he's a pretty handsome guy portrayed by an actor who can act; let's not look for faults with him, it doesn't make much sense. He was well written and well acted. As for the heroine... she's not bad, she's not entirely the type to get on your nerves, but her actress. That's where I had a bit of a problem, because I felt like she didn't quite know how to conceptualize the heroine at times, and her fake smile annoyed me terribly. I rarely thought she smiled from the heart. The other characters were more like the sort of complementary character archetypes, you couldn't say that any of them stood out; they were simply there to complete the setting for the heroine and hero. The only one who stood out to me for his development and character was Pei Xi. You didn't really know what to expect from him at the beginning, but it became clearer as time went on so that by the finale he was just great. Unlike the villains, whose meanness was constantly reiterated, even though it was done by different characters. We basically had to go through the same pattern twice to finally get to something decent the third time (here I'm referring to their professional successes and failures). If I had anything to say about the relationship between the main characters, it was definitely nice how it came naturally; they basically hit it off, spent time together, and it just kind of happened. It's just that then the stakes... Fortunately, we didn't have a long struggle for it and the viewer at least got the picture pretty quickly, it just took a bit longer for the characters to say it to each other. Leaving aside the characters, the acting and the story, which is simply straightforward, even if it goes around the same circle twice, let's look at the editing, the editing. Excuse me, but it is disgusting! The way the scenes were edited at times... did they really not have more time to spend on that? The quality of the editing disturbed me terribly. The scenes strangely failed to follow each other at times, at one moment a character had A in his hand, then B, then A again... these details increase the quality of the work significantly if they are well done; if they are sloppy, they decrease it horribly. And this is not the first time I’ve seen this from a Chinese series. Do they really have that little time to do it properly? Enough complaints. To sum up, it was actually a watchable series, and it doesn't really matter if you play online games or if you're an esports fan, because this was ultimately about shifts in romance and work. Even despite the Chinese nationalism. A better 3 stars.

Gankucuó (2004) (serial)

angielski Colorful, and at times the colors had a life of their own. With a story that warms every romantic's heart. Just a bit of a shame it wasn't more like the Dumas novel. I wasn't bored, I enjoyed the French. They could easily have done without half of the last episode, but so what. A better 3 stars, and I can easily recommend this. Even some mecha shows up :-)

Gantz (2004) (serial)

angielski Slightly better than the live-action version, but still... the illogical to annoying behavior of the characters kills almost all the action, and when there is no action, we’re just watching the lives of people who are dead. Or are we? It's not until the last episode that we actually get a philosophical moment, but I feel like it's coming from the mouth of a rather inappropriate character. Finally, what I took away from the anime is the alternating between characters whining and assuming a heroic can-do, go-for-it, you can do it, pal! It's got violence, the anime doesn't mess around, and it kills indiscriminately – I appreciate that a lot. But other than that, I have no idea what else I could praise further. The story? Not a good one. Characters? Ha ha. Animation? Not impressed. Opening? Ending? Same impression as the animation – almost none. On the other hand, it's true that it wasn't so boring and it went by quite briskly. A weaker 3 stars.

Gao deng kuo shao mou jian ri ji (2015)

angielski It's way too melodramatic for my tastes, for something that tries to pass itself off as a comedy. The story of how a spoiled brat is raised by a prison and becomes a proper and contributing member of society. Unfortunately with a very unappealing narrator. Only the ending with the reference to My Love Who Came From the Stars was good.

Ga-Rei: Zero (2008) (serial)

angielski Well, I don't know, I kind of got bored watching every episode – without fail. Not that I was sleep-deprived, but I had a bit of an urge to look at the scroll bar to see how much time was left to go, and I was a bit disappointed when I realized I was only halfway through the episode... That shouldn't happen, right? But the animation is really nice...

Garireo (2007) (serial)

angielski Jitsu ni omoshiroi. I watched it in two days, so it wasn't bad. Quite the opposite. But I guess I didn't want to look at it that harshly. It was episodic, only the last two episodes built on each other, so after a while I got tired of the repetitive pattern of murders and their solutions. A big plus in my book for the main character, you could almost say she was keeping up with her genius partner (of course I don't mean in physics now). One other thing I've discovered through this is that I don't really like mysteries where it's solved by science, by physics in this case. Otherwise, I would certainly have given it a higher rating. Because the protagonist was an intelligent likable guy (and I like those), the heroine wasn't just a useless embellishment, and again, she wasn't that influenced by Yukawa's awesomeness. And, of course, the crimes were well thought out. A better 3 stars.

Garireo 2 (2013) (serial)

angielski Same as the first season – Galileo the same, solving cases the same, Kuribayashi still wanting to become a professor. The only change, and actually a pretty significant one, was in the female element – Shibasaki Kō replaced Yoshitaka Yuriko. I found her character irritating at first, but before I knew it, she blended in and was part of Galileo until I forgot that she hadn't been there before. Basically, I don't feel like I need to add anything else because it really was the same as the first season and that didn't hurt it one bit. Did you enjoy the first season? Then you'll enjoy this one too. I would just add that it had a very nice ending. A better 3 stars.

Gâru (2012)

angielski It's been a long time since I've seen a Japanese film for women that didn't try to blatantly lecture women on how they should live and what they should feel (and if this film did, it did it so very subtly and discreetly that I almost didn't notice). The film attempts to shed some light on the lives of women in various social positions, and it does so in a very enjoyable way. The really strong female characters are a big plus (and let's face it, Karina may be the most beautiful of the bunch, but even so, the best for me was Asō Kumiko). The cast was chosen very wisely, they fit the roles perfectly. I admit that I only wanted to watch the movie because of Mukai, who ended up giving a fairly modest performance, but that didn't matter at all. It's a bit of a longer film, but it has a lot to show and say, so it doesn't matter. A positive film for women, a rather boring one for men.

Ge Wu Qing Chun (2010) śmieć!

angielski No matter how I think about it, I just can't give it even that one star. And don't think of me as the kind of person who sees the words “High School Musical" in the title and condemns it immediately. I admit without torture that I gave the first one 4 stars because it was something new at the time and I really enjoyed it, I wasn't bored by it. But here? I didn't like the songs. The numbers were okay at times, yet it seemed to me that it was always kind of repetitive and a bit unimaginative. But what irritated me the most was the perfection of Poet and Ning Ning – the shots à la Michael Jordan (check), IQ 289 (check), the vocal cords more golden than Herr Gott (check), piano playing, guitar playing (check). You know, just awful upon dreadful. And I was terribly bored the whole time. And the comedy; where was it?!
