Det krokiga och det raka

Filmmaker Sven Blume embarks on a very intimate journey to get to know his grandfather Carl Nyrén – the famous Swedish post-war architect. Sven had no interest in architecture for many years, associating it with the elaborate days of his mother and her successful father. But after his death, he sets out to learn about his grandfather’s work and gradually changes his perception of his legacy and the field itself. Through the camera and his own observation, he pays tribute to the quality of Nyrén’s buildings, but he is not afraid to verbalize such sensitive topics as the effects of excessive devotion to work on those around him, or even plagiarism in architecture.
