Zwiastun

Opisy(1)

Killing time at the local mall, T.S. and Brodie lament the fact that they've both lost their respective girlfriends on the same day. One relationship goes awry when T.S.'s girlfriend, Brandi, explains that her friend, who was scheduled to appear on "Truth or Date," a TV game show, has died unexpectedly and now Brandi plans to fill in for her. The other romance ends when Brodie, a video game addict, is so inattentive that his girlfriend, Rene, up and leaves. Both guys spend the day, as always, at the mall discussing their problems with their slacker friends. It all culminates at the taping of the show, when T.S. and Brodie make their way onto the panel in an attempt to win back their girlfriends. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)

angielski While Smith's first film suffered from a lot of brevity and too much episodicity of the individual characters, the second time around he managed to avoid all such ills and made a brilliant film that is a perfect reflection of his love for the pop culture world around him. Dialogues about comic book superheroes (the interview with Stan Lee is brilliant), dissecting the Star Wars phenomenon, but also a lot of vulgarities, which are not self-serving but rather entertaining and hide many moral lessons, the least of which is that love is important for each of us. A cinematic jewel that mirrors the filmmaker's genius like few things do. ()

angielski I like Kevin Smith’s movies. He keeps filming the same thing with the same characters over and over and rehashing the same pop-cultural references. But I still enjoy it anyway. Sexist jokes are great, references to superheroes are absolutely divine, Stan Lee in the important role is perfect, and Jay and Silent Bob are flawless. It’s a pity that it has quite a slow start. The beginning is definitely not much, but then it picks up the pace and at the end it is a deadly tank machine sending the viewer into one fit of laughter after another. If Kevin Smith retires from filmmaking, as he claims, it will mean the end of an era of unique humor, which I’m happy to have fun with whenever I get the chance. ()

angielski This is exactly the type of humor, exaggeration, and provocation that fans of Kevin Smith will enjoy. Once again, we encounter slackers, posers, and impractical consumers of comics and video games who this time have to deal with the problem of losing their partners. As for the cast, I feel that the pair of salesmen from Smith's first film were, in terms of type, better, and when it comes to the female cast, Joey Lauren Adams easily overshadowed her competitors in the lead roles. However, in Mallrats, the important thing is rather the level of absurdity, crazy dialogues, and gags. The butt grab made me happy, as I thought I was the only one doing it. Overall impression: 75%.
