Season 1 (2022) (S01)

angielski I had some concerns about the new Bosch because the creators significantly changed the original series' storyline. To my surprise, they managed to eliminate most of the obstacles they had previously created and put together a story in which I quickly recognized both of Connelly's books on which it was based. I'm not saying it was flawless (far from it), but it exceeded my expectations, and I'm looking forward to the next season. / Lesson learned: When characters who were supposed to be dead long ago are still alive, it's time to improvise. ()

Po złej stronie pożegnania (2022) (S01E01)

angielski After the first episode, it is clear to me that the creators loosely based it on The Crossing and The Wrong Side of Goodbye while nicely adjusting and combining the plot. I don't mean it as a criticism, I am glad that I recognized both inspirations in the story, and my satisfaction with the episode's progress is clearly reflected in the resulting four-star rating. I thought that I would find Maddie annoying in her new life role. Surprisingly, it hasn't happened so far. / Lesson learned: Always watch your back. ()

Werwa (2022) (S01E02)

angielski Not even the second episode disappointed me (well, maybe a little); the books on which this show is based are fantastic, and I like how the creators have adapted them. Bosch's paid and private investigation had drive, and the series has a good atmosphere and unique suspense. The new addition to the LAPD provides some lighthearted entertainment. Unless the creators significantly alter the story, I have the disadvantage of being deprived of potential surprises, but to tell the truth, it doesn't bother me at all because I enjoyed searching for the billionaire's heir (in the book), so I hope to enjoy it again if the creators don't ruin it. So far, it doesn't seem that way. / Lesson learned: A person only learns from their mistakes if they admit them. ()

List w butelce (2022) (S01E03)

angielski Who would have thought? I have just finished the third episode, and the creators have already started a third investigative storyline, this time complete with rape. I'm just sorry that Bella Lourdes didn't get space because this particular investigation is heading in only one possible direction, and I really don't think it's a good idea. But maybe I'm wrong, and the creators will make me regret what I said. Either way, this episode was great, I enjoyed it, and I think the new Bosch is off to a good start. / Lesson learned: If you dig into a wasp's nest, always do it in protective clothing. I'm speaking from my own harrowing experience. ()

Podkowy i granaty (2022) (S01E04)

angielski This time, I didn't feel as good about the episode as I did about the previous three. The plot seemed to have a somewhat slower pace. Bosch was sneaking into places again, and I really don't think that closely guarded buildings have cameras only on the outside. The whole pipeline mission seemed somewhat naive to me, and I would have been much happier if the creators had focused more on finding the heir. I praised the previous episodes, but I am more cautious this time, although I hope for a rapid improvement. / Lesson learned: Stealth missions in games don't sit well with my nerves. ()

Plan B (2022) (S01E05)

angielski Regarding Harry's plumbing adventure, most of the events struck me as hilarious and incredibly naive, just like the Russian mafia consisting of only two men tackling all the dirty work. They just didn't have enough people at the moment, I guess. The rest of the plot was okay for me, but because of the nonsense above, I was going to lower my rating. However, after thinking it through, I realized that despite being fed such silliness, I was still thoroughly entertained. I may have chuckled at moments when I was supposed to be on the edge of my seat, but it was still enjoyable. / Lesson learned: When someone painstakingly builds something, and someone else destroys it in an instant, it's not very pleasant. ()

Hierarchia prawdy (2022) (S01E06)

angielski The creators have probably guessed what seemed weird to me in the first season. I complained about the nonsense with the two-member mafia in my previous review. I don't have any arguments this time because, from the sixth episode on, there are already three Russians, which completely changed the situation. Yeah, it's unfortunate, but it's also funny, so I chuckled every time the terrifying trio appeared on the scene. Otherwise, the situation was similar to the previous episode, so despite various shortcomings, I was similarly generous concerning the rating. / Lesson learned: Maddie was lucky that her dad did not tell her the whole story. ()

Nasz człowiek (2022) (S01E07)

angielski It is interesting how the creators of Bosch: Legacy are trying to stick to the book and how they are mainly limited in this effort because they have deviated from the author's stories in Bosch. I currently find this spin-off more impressive than some of the seasons of Bosch, and I am glad because I was apprehensive about Legacy. The seventh episode was great. All plotlines are heading in an exciting direction. I just missed the three Russian mobsters because I had nothing to laugh at without them. / Lesson learned: Don't get into a car with a stranger, especially not with two of them. ()

Więzy krwi (2022) (S01E08)

angielski The eighth episode wasn't bad. Even though it wasn't exactly eventful, I wasn't bored.  / Lesson learned: Even good news can result in bad outcomes. ()

Kociaku, jak ci na imię? (2022) (S01E09)

angielski The previous episode was partly propaganda, but the creators returned to what is essential in the ninth episode. It brings me joy that they stick to the original material (when possible). What I don't feel good about is the investigation of the series of rapes. This way, the LAPD will no longer need detectives in the future, and newbies from the Academy will solve cases. This storyline was not handled very well; otherwise, I was satisfied. / Lesson learned: Sometimes, you must fully immerse yourself in searching for evidence. ()

Nieważne kiedy, nieważne jak (2022) (S01E10)

angielski I'm giving the tenth episode four stars despite some screenwriting clichés. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when the creators of a movie or series create a character of a perfect killer who will shoot a sprinting squirrel in the eye from fifty meters away (with a pistol/revolver), only to fail spectacularly in a fight with the protagonist. And one more detail. I don't think emptying a magazine into elevator doors or an empty bed is a sign of professionalism. I would bet on nervousness instead. Apart from this standard nonsense, the creators of the first season managed to reach a decent conclusion, closed what they could, and prepared a window for the next season to sneak in. / Lesson learned: Don't count shots. Count weapons. ()

Season 2 (2023) (S02)

angielski The second season of Bosch didn't turn out too bad, although I had a few issues with certain episodes. In the end, I found myself able to overlook those flaws because, overall, I had a good time. By the way, while watching the show, I was simultaneously reading Connelly's books. When the creators stuck close to the source material, I was completely satisfied, but as they veered off course, the shortcomings became more apparent. Nevertheless, I'm content overall and eagerly anticipating what comes next. / Lesson learned: When you shoot at someone, make sure they land on the right side of the fence. ()

Zniknięcie (2023) (S02E01)

angielski A solid four stars. I still think that the creators tend to needlessly complicate things by keeping certain characters around who should've been dealt with by now, while also failing to introduce any significant new ones. This inevitably leads to deviations from the books, resulting in some logical inconsistencies. But truth be told, I've come to expect it, at least to some extent. The first episode of this season seamlessly picked up where the last season left off, with an intriguing plot that held my attention throughout. I didn't find a dull moment, and I'm eagerly anticipating what comes next, so overall, I'm pretty satisfied. / Lesson learned: Smoking harms health and anonymity. ()

Zzyzx (2023) (S02E02)

angielski Do you know what I find fascinating about deserts? Absolutely nothing. The heat isn't my thing, so a desert trip ranks as enjoyable as a mandatory stay in a psychiatric hospital. In my last review, I praised the nice pacing and intriguing plot of the previous episode, but the second one left me feeling less enthused. While it might have resonated with some claustrophobic viewers, for me, it was a bit of a snooze fest with an uninspired plot and a highly predictable ending. It's clear that straying from the excellent source material had consequences. Well, sometimes things just don't click. / No lessons this time, just a burning question: How on earth does a scorpion manage to climb up a smooth plastic surface? ()

Kret (2023) (S02E03)

angielski While I'm pleased that the creators have expanded the scope of the second season, their approach leaves me questioning if they have too much freedom all at once. With several significant plotlines suddenly unfolding, I can't help but wonder if it might do more harm than good in the long run. While Michael Connelly often operates in a similar way, he's a great writer, and I don't hold the writers of this series in such high regard. That said, there's always the chance I could be wrong and I'll end up pleasantly surprised. / Lesson learned: Carefully guard your genetic material. ()

Musso & Frank (2023) (S02E04)

angielski The bulk of each episode is largely unfamiliar to me until I recognize bits and pieces of the source material in the heavily modified plot. It makes me remember how much I enjoyed The Crossing, which lifts my spirits momentarily, though they tend to dip again soon after. Despite this, the lingering good feeling keeps it solidly above average, but... While I appreciate the need for stronger female roles (and I've long admired Mimi Rogers), I can't shake the notion that it might have worked better with more focus on Haller. Nevertheless, it's only the fourth episode, leaving ample room for potential improvement. / Lesson learned: Heading out for drinks with friends? Always take barf bags with you in case you find yourself in a holding cell. ()

Stare dobre Hollywood (2023) (S02E05)

angielski I can't quite put my finger on it, but I had a much more positive vibe about the fifth episode compared to the previous three, giving me enough reason to bump up my rating to four stars. Maybe it was that the main plot seemed to closely align with the source material, while the creators injected their creativity into the rest of the plot. It feels like this could be the winning formula to make the second season truly enjoyable for me. Here's hoping that the second half of the season follows the same (or at least very similar) pattern. / Lesson learned: Watch out! Cameras are practically everywhere these days. ()

Dwóch zabójców (2023) (S02E06)

angielski In Michael Connelly's books, women often play significant roles, but the series creators seem to have taken it a step too far. While they did a commendable job portraying Maddie's troubled psyche, I can't help but notice a significant issue that arose. The focus should be on Harry Bosch and the central theme of uncovering Lexi Parks' killer(s). However, from the sixth episode onward, it felt like both of these priorities took a backseat to secondary concerns. / Lesson learned: Life is full of dangers, whether you are a prostitute or a pawnbroker. ()

Tęsknię za Vinem Scullym (2023) (S02E07)

angielski The seventh episode delivered exactly what I felt was missing in the previous one. Side plots seamlessly complemented the main storyline, propelling the investigation forward while staying true to the source material. This time around, the progression left me thoroughly satisfied, prompting me to consider bumping up my rating because I genuinely had a blast. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the remaining episodes of this season maintain this momentum, especially since Hieronymus Bosch is my all-time favorite sleuth, and I'm eager to give the season the rating it deserves. / Lesson learned: Sometimes, it's more than enough to know that they know. ()

W Belize jest teraz ciepło (2023) (S02E08)

angielski I'm getting the sense that the quality of individual episodes is picking up as the second season draws to a close. What's crystal clear to me is that this uptick in quality is largely due to feeling more of Michael Connelly's influence in these later episodes. Now, I'm not here to throw shade on the writers or say everything they do falls short; it's just evident that they're grappling with the need to incorporate contemporary themes — like political correctness and gender balance — into the series, which often detracts from its overall quality without adding much value for me. That being said, the eighth episode was definitely a standout, and that's something to celebrate. / Lesson learned: Sometimes the safest ride is a pedal car — no explosions, no fuel or battery woes, plus it's a win for the environment. ()
