Hou Hsiao-Hsien is one of Taiwan’s most influential late-20th-century filmmakers. This documentary offers an in-depth look at his life and fascinating career. His friend and colleague Olivier Assayas and a camera crew follow Hou through Taipei and into the countryside while the filmmaker shows Assayas where he was raised.
