His contribution was essential in the creation of the still fledgling Spanish film industry. His was a figure with lights and shadows, since his ideological ties led him to a progressive fall from grace until his retirement in absolute oblivion. In the 21st century, discovering his mastery in the use of narrative rhythm and his refined technique leads us to the recovery of his immense legacy.
