Argentina’s cultural history is full of curious friendships and failed projects. I Promise You a Long Friendship deals with a specific case in which both situations combine - the bond between Victoria Ocampo and Romanian-French writer Benjamin Fondane, a long-distance friendship driven by a shared passion for art. Fondane, who would die in 1944 at a concentration camp in Auschwitz, directed an insane film in Argentina: Tararira, which was burnt by its producer and is currently lost.
