When Manual (Thornton) is released from prison after 22 years, he seeks redemption by befriending Adele (Hunter), the sister of the 16-year-old boy he killed. But things get complicated when Manual can`t bring himself to tell Adele his true identity. The film marks the directorial debut of Ed Solomon, the screenwriter responsible for such films as Men in Black and the two Ted and Bill films. I’m starting to get bored with these clever American dramas. They are either sentimental (Moonlight Mile) or boring (this case) and even if they are somehow interesting at first, that good impression fades after a couple of hours. The basic premise is okay, but the point of Morgan Freeman’s character completely escapes me. And by tomorrow, the point of the whole film will have escaped me.
