The biggest surprise of this film is how easily it can switch genres in the first half hour. Family drama, suspenseful thriller, conspiracy theories, and surprising twists? A terrifying combination that could work in more skilled directorial hands, but in the case of the forever unknown John Irvin, it only confuses. The potential of Irons and Whitaker remained completely wasted.
