The atmosphere in the United Steel Works is one of suspense, given the imminent arrival of Balogh István, the new president on his way to the Works from abroad. On the train, Balogh is doped by Szénássy, an engineer, who then takes Balogh's money, leaving his own suitcase behind. Balogh, now introducing himself as Szénássy, is helped by Vera, an employee working in the Steel Works. He even accepts her offer to rent out a room in her flat. Balogh visits the company, posing as his own chauffeur. Meanwhile, it is discovered that Szénássy's suitcase contains burglar's tools and suspicion immediately falls on Balogh. On top of that the Szénássy - the real burglar - shows up, presenting himself as the president. In the denouement, problems are sorted out, while Balogh and Vera get married.
