Life Is Not a Competition, But I'm Winning

The film tackles these questions using novel artistic means. The narrators are athletes who travel in time and delve into archive footage, in order to come face to face with notable non-normative female runners and athletes from the last century whom history has forgotten. Slowly, parallels appear between their situation and the current discrimination against transgender female athletes, as well as the difficult position of queer women in sports overall. The group guiding us through the film offers a utopian alternative by forming a collective body that finds strength in connection and collaboration. This strength is complemented by the stylised collective scenes and the energetic music heard at the beginning and the end. (One World)
