This stunning award-winning High Definition Documentary was shot over a year in the Peruvian Amazon. It features the elusive Red-Faced Uakari Monkey—the first time its behaviour has been filmed in the wild. This film takes us from Peru’s bustling city of Iquitos to an exotic world: a 4-day jungle cruise down the Amazon and its tributaries to the Lago Preto monkey preserve—home to a troupe of 500 threatened Red Uakari monkeys. Here wildlife biologist Dr. Mark Bowler studies the primates, working with the Wildlife Conservation Society and England’s Durrell Institute of Conservation and Ecology. The monkeys feeds on the Aguaje Palm, called “the Tree of Life,” and as they drop fruit to the forest floor it helps to feed many other animal species. However, as logging moves into the area the forest eco-systems are threatened and hunting could wipe out whole species. Through his work, Mark helps to ensure the future survival of these amazing monkeys. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)
