Śmiertelne zauroczenie

Heathers is so peculiar and different that it cannot be filed under one specific genre. The creators came up with the original idea of a high school ‘cleansing’, augmenting it with loads of fun elements and a generous dose of political incorrectness (something that would be wholly unimaginable in the U.S. of today). Ubiquitous black humour and first-class catch phrases enhance an already interesting plot and sublime acting performance by the entire cast. Winona Ryder is shining and for Christian Slater this film was, without a doubt, a springboard to Scott/Tarantino’s True Romance. [Summer Film School 2018] (02.08.2018)

An interesting blend of thriller and teen comedy that hinges on the fact that there are popular and unpopular students, and that the unpopular ones may decide to make short work of the latter. All it takes is the right impulse, this time in the form of a handsome young man who is not right in the head. There's just the right amount of exaggeration, and that's how the film works. “Fuck me gently with a chainsaw.”  Heathers sometimes unintentionally finds itself beyond the boundaries of a lot of black comedy, which today, after numerous school massacres, enables us to see the film as a somewhat stylised, yet otherwise accurate depiction of the micro-society of high school.
