Mimo, że nie zna swojego partnera Paola Gallmana zbyt dobrze, przyjmuje jego oświadczyny. Wraz z rodziną wyjeżdza do Kenii. Spełnia swoje największe marzenie, jakim jest prowadzenie farmy i mieszkanie w Afryce. Nagle jej sielankę przerywa niespodziewana śmierć męża. Tragedia jest tym większa, że kobieta spodziewa się dziecka. Zmuszona jest stawić czoła problemom i trudzie życia w obcym kraju. Czy uda jej się porozumieć z mieszkajacym w sąsiedztwie plemieniem? Whenever I go back to movies with Kim Basinger, I have to laugh at the collective idea that her acting is better than any other Playboy model. Truth be told, there is something hypnotic about her passive presence on screen, but she never reached real dramatic acting.

This film has practically no artistic value, it only benefits from its thematic similarity with the legendary Out of Africa. Once again, we have the harsh wilderness of Central Africa, a strong woman with the mental and physical strength to overcome the difficult obstacles on her arduous journey. But we never find out why she ventured into the unknown without hesitation and essentially undermined her own happiness. Unfortunately, the arrival and settling in Africa is typically shallow and full of clichés, everything goes smoothly, with occasional wind, animal attacks, rain, a few poachers, and so on. Perhaps only a few stronger scenes are worth it, and that is mainly due to Kim Basinger's excellent performance. Unfortunately, the whole project appears somewhat cheap and thoughtless, and the relatively long running time kills it. Towards the end, you feel as if youo were staring into the bottom of a dried-up lake – emptiness.
