When Lucy Cullins (Goldberg), hires an actor named Nick to play Santa Claus for a TV network, she gets more than she bargained for. Nick really is Santa Claus, and he faces mandatory retirement after 200 years on the job. Nick must find his replacement by Christmas Eve or the world will face dire consequences. In this film, Whoopi plays a character that is as annoying as the draft coming from under your door and on top of that, she hates Christmas. And even though the actual Santa Claus, portrayed by an actor who is very well known for his role of the permanent secretary at a ministry, Sir Humprey Appleby in Yes, Minister!,manages to change her mind about Christmas, it still doesn’t save the overall impression of the movie. At least the Yanks put his residence to Norway. Better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
