A Nymphoid Barbarian in Dinosaur Hell

One film theory says that in the 1990s, genres were "cleaned up" and only quality films were made within their limits. However, Kaufman and Herz cheerfully ignore this fact and their studio Troma continues to produce the dumbest rubbish under the sun. Yet even fun has its limits and this post-apocalyptic walk through forests, meadows, sand dunes, and rocks gets boring after a while. It has to be admitted that even the classic Ray Harryhausen would probably not be ashamed of the successful models of mutant proto-lizards, but unfortunately not 20 years ago. The beautiful main character is pleasing to the male eye, but the boring macho guy with exaggerated chest hair makes for a useless sidekick (and slaps do ensue). The plot cannot be understood (what the introduction doesn't scream at you the film doesn't answer later on) and there is no development of the characters, as the dialogue is sparse and the rest is provided by the occasional voiceover. While I like the Troma method of seeing the movie window, there were times I wanted to reach for the off button. (16.11.2007)
