Ruthie and Or, mother and daughter, live in a small Tel Aviv flat. Ruthie has been a prostitute for the last twenty years, and Or has tried many times without success to get her off the streets. The daily routine of the 17-year-old Or is an endless succession of petty jobs: washing dishes in a restaurant, cleaning staircases, and collecting deposit bottles while attending high school whenever she can. Ruthie’s health is worsening. After her mother’s umpteenth visit to the hospital, Or decides that this time, things must change for good. (Morelia International Film Festival)

A feministic drama situated in modern-day Israel. It doesn’t pretend to be anything more than it is; it’s not extraordinary, there are some strong feminine moments. A drama well worth three stars, nothing less, nothing more.

A deeply depressing film about a daughter in Israel trying to get her mother to stop being a prostitute, but things are not easy for the mother. And the problem isn't just that she doesn't want to, it's simply that she's addicted. The feeling that this can't end well doesn't completely come true, yet the film will resonate with you more on a depressing note.
