This war drama by director Rolf Hansen became the greatest box-office hit of Hitler's Germany. Apart from casting the greatest film stars and telling a moving story with spectacular music performances, this lovestory of singer Hanna and Lufwaffe pilot Paul is an example of civic consciousness: personal interests of the leading couple must make way for the more important needs of the Third Reich. angielski At first glance, another imperial melodrama with Zarah Leander, once again with Viktor Staal (To New Shores) and Paul Hörbiger (The Blue Fox) appearing alongside her. But at the birth of The Great Love was Goebbels' decision to create a new modern war film. He mentions a conversation with Leander on this subject in his diary on June 22, 1941. That is how the movie with Leader inside out was made. This is contrary to how carefully built her star vehicle had been up to that point. The film is set in the present day and teaches the audience that love must wait and that that’s okay. A formerly successful and ambitious singer's spirits plummet after meeting a soldier, as their romance cannot even be sure of having a honeymoon. In contrast, we watch the divine Zarah in unnatural scenes of civilian life, fully dependent on the minutes she will be able to spend with her chosen one. In the end, her reward is a few days of sick leave to spend with her lover during his recovery...However, fans are tolerant because, in addition to the presence of the wonderful diva (albeit in an unnatural role) in this film, they still admire her interpretation of songs that are popular to this day: "Da", "Davon geht die Welt nicht unter" and "Ich weiß es wird einmal ein Wunder geschehn."
