Nicholas (Charlie Hunnam) i jego rodzina cieszą się wygodnym życiem. Wszystko zmienia się, kiedy głowa rodziny (Andrew Havill) umiera. Nicholas, jego siostra Kate (Romola Garai) i matka (Stella Gonet) udają się do Londynu, aby szukać pomocy u wuja Ralpha (Christopher Plummer).
