Colors, especially those Technicolor ones, suit westerns well. The landscape looks good, as do the characters. John Wayne plays yet another brooding character who has to fight his way through life, most likely by falling in love with the right woman. Will he succeed or not? That's almost a pointless question, but this movie has some good scenes at times. The mud fight is well done.
