A movie based on real wartime diaries tells the story of the Swedish speaking Finns' infantry regiment 61. The story follows the regiment during the Continuation War from 1942 to 1944 and from Syväri to the Karelian Isthmus where they faced some of the most grueling battles against the Soviet Union. angielski I don’t have to mention again in this review that the Russo-Finnish war was pretty rough. The Finns defended themselves against the Russian troops that doubled them in number, who tried to feast on the Finnish forested landscape. But they had no idea that the Finns are hot-headed, and after fighting for their freedom, they were not going to let go of their country. Plus they knew the Finnish winters and their surroundings, which is more or less the same throughout the whole Finland. Forests, lakes, forests, lakes… Anyway, hats off to the Finnish army as it was the only one that was able to defy the Soviet army. However, it’s a pity that the creators of this film told the story almost as if it was a documentary but forgot a little about the individuality of each character and the story itself. Nevertheless, the movie won me over with real shots and the narration of real war veterans. ()
