Air

In my own way I kind of get it, or at least I believe I understood what was going on, sort of peripherally. Still, it has an air of mystery to me. Might want to watch it again. Anyway, I can't give it fewer stars, although it's kind of slow and didn't grab me at all at first – in fact, it was quite boring. It's just that the deep thought – if I haven't picked it out – just says something to me. It tugs at my sleeve and pulls me away. Heaven is not the same as it used to be. :-) (21.04.2009)

Sad angels, walking puppets, the sound of the sea, and a city that, apart from the cautious Yukito, is evidently inhabited solely by women and girls. Getting used to the fact that the main characters occasionally are practically competing with each other for the title of "saddest backstory", and at the same time the deliberately exaggerated childish humor, seemed like a challenging task. But rarely has my patience and openness paid off so well. I couldn't breathe during the two-part flashback, and I could only anxiously squirm during every sadder moment. And when the last episode came, an unexpected blow to the heart also came because I had never experienced such a tearful valley in a series before. Air may not be the best mystical mystery or the most stimulating anime drama. But the way it managed to emotionally tear me apart will never fade from my memory. (19.09.2013)
