The American film maker James Benning has been one of the outstanding exponents of the structural film since the mid-1970s. Bennings artistic position has been strongly influenced by mathematics and by the creativity of mathematical thinking. With his new project 13 Lakes, James Benning goes one step further towards reducing things to a minimum. The film focuses on thirteen large American lakes along with their geographical and historical relationship to the landscape: Lake Michigan (Michigan), Great Salt Lake (Utah), Hiamna Lake (Alaska), Lake Okeechobee (Florida), Lake Pontchartrain (Louisiana), Red Lake (Minnesota), Lake Champlain (New York), Salton Sea (California), Lake Powell (Arizona), Lake Winnebego (Wisconsin), Flathead Lake (Montana), Goose Lake (Oregon), and Moosehead Lake (Maine). angielski My record is a pair of lakes in one go. Can anyone beat that? P.S.: I would like to recommend Benning literature about the fundaments of landscape composition, since his dogmatic “halves" irritated me reliably after just ten seconds. And more than eight thousand more were waiting for me. I soon gave up. I just don’t have the patience for this kind of thing, let alone the time. Thanks very little. ()
