angielski It slightly annoys me how many people mindlessly throw the word Troma around in connection with this movie. Troma had absolutely nothing to do with the creation and making of The Children, they only "unearthed" this movie after over twenty years, and it was then released on DVD by Troma Entertainment, for which, of course, they deserve my undying gratitude. However, comparing this movie to productions originally made by such a distinctive company as Troma is utter nonsense. Anyway, The Children is a well-made B-movie about kids who, after being exposed to a toxic cloud leaking from a nuclear power plant, get the urge to roast their parents and reduce them to ashes. It is somewhat predictable, but strangely enough, it is a dark and depressing nightmare for all those who do not find the idea of bulging-eyed children being terrifying too ridiculous. From time to time, I enjoy digging up a B-movie such as this, especially when there is a horror soundtrack by Harry Manfredini. ()

angielski This B-horror film, made shortly after the infamous Three Mile Island nuclear power plant disaster, attempts to redefine the term "nuclear family". Here, children exposed to radiation after a nuclear power plant accident burn their parents to the ground by hugging them with their radioactive arms. Really! Probably the craziest metaphor for the nuclear threat I've seen in a movie. The Children teeters strangely on the edge of scary and ridiculous. It shocks you with the unusually high level of violence perpetrated by and on children, but its silliness and ridiculous premise prevent you from taking it seriously. ()
