Ciemność rusza do boju

Children's fantasy that rode the wave of Harry Potter, but managed with a small budget. It is more of a family film than anything else, and even though it looks like it could be a sequel, it is the first and only film of its name. It's not something that will wow you, but I think you won't expect much from the film anyway. Just something you can easily watch on the weekend. It successfully passes the time. The genre of children's fantasy was unable to fully satisfy many viewers, so all the hatred had to escalate. Will Stanton and company thus became sacrificial lambs, even though they were surprisingly successful considering the zero (or negative) expectations of The Ancient. We may not have dragons or flying, but there are witty lines, likable guides through the newly discovered world, and above all, a sufficiently magical atmosphere. It is not the fantasy that its fans would want, but this sincere family atmosphere is much more pleasant to me than, for example, the false grandeur of Narnia. (16.11.2009)

The CIA has a new weapon for their interrogations in Guantánamo. No more electric shocks, waterboarding, or the constant denial of sleep, but the regular screening of this monstrosity, an ordeal for every fan of the fantasy genre. The only good things: the sidekicks, the lovable George and Dawson, the cute kitty and that’s it. The bad: all the rest. It's so boring and pointless that it doesn't even stand up in the "guilty-pleasure" rank. (15.02.2008)
