(Prime Video)

An unpretentious drama which, with surprising certainty and without any tabloid and melodramatic mannerisms, tells the common story of a girl trapped in a caste system. There were probably hundreds of ways to make this story more compelling, but Rajnesh Domalpalli chose an austere documentary, in all aspects a light-hearted narrative that amazes through its childless carelessness, with which it puts existential sorrows and childish exhilaration side by side. Vanaja is a film that the viewer has to tune into. Formally, the film is noticeably clumsy, but it tells the story directly and with certainty. An exotic experience. ()
