Briefly on new fairy tales: “How Giants Died Out in Sumava Mountains” features a news-reel unit hike in the woods of Sumava in order to discover if giants, who play the ancient “who's bigger”game, really live there or not. The fairy tale “The Hat With a Jaybird Feather” sees the King have three sons but summon only two for no one takes Honza seriously. It's because high up in the mountains, the king forgot his hat with the jaybird feather and now, when he grew old, finds himself missing it. Trails to the mountains are mazy and the question is: will prince Rychlomil's Bugasseratti or royal son's Siloslav's Bull-Digger Special make it? Or maybe, will it be Honza's scooter after all? And is it likely for a king's son to become an absolute world champion of all races and categories? The longest fairy tale “Reason and Luck” solves the cardinal question: can you live without one or the other? When the two fellas (Mr. Reason and Mr. Luck) set a bet, the one who's to decide about their essentiality is a dull shepherd Ludvik. (oficjalny tekst dystrybutora)

angielski Fixing the poetics of Werich's book with the popular attributes of the 1960s turned out to be downright unfortunate. How Giants Perished in the Šumava Mountains is much closer to the film Oil Gobblers, and I would certainly not confuse these different directions in Czech humor. The other stories are not worth writing about. ()

angielski If all three films titled "Fimfárum" were put together, it would create a great work where different forms of animation would alternate, great stories would be presented, and it would be an experience. The third "Fimfárum" is not the same as the first one, it is running out of breath and the animation is not bad, but it is no longer as inventive. Instead, it plays on subtle jokes that don't really sit well with me in relation to Werich. There is nothing to criticize about the fairy tales themselves, they are simply unique. Werich is also a brilliant narrator, and you believe his own jokes. A nice experience that adults will take away more from than children.
