An adventurous drama about horse smuggling in the area of the borders between Poland and Slovakia shortly after the 2nd World War. Two strong individualities face each other - the horse smugglers´ leader Orban and the frontier-guard commander-in-chief Halva. A very good film. Surprisingly good. The very first scene thrilled me with its stylishness, I cheered during the spaghetti titles accompanied by Stračina's roaring music... And that feeling lasted until the end. To pit Radoslav Brzobohatý and Michal Dočolomanský against each other was a great idea, as was the idea of conceiving the story as a classic western and filming it that way. Add to all this a stunningly impressive atmosphere of the Tatra mountain panoramas, well-cast supporting roles and the final point... And you get the film I just fell in love with today.

These tendentious chapters of Gendarmerie history are completely unsuitable for me. The atmosphere is fine, but the American ideas and paradoxes of the time embodied in the patriotic Radek Brzobohatý...? The main thing is that this was where he met Hana Gregorová. I'd rather watch Soňa Valentová, who gave up on rural education after the first misunderstanding through disinfection.
