A 10-year-old boy lives with his young mother on a farm surrounded by deep forest in the remote wilds of the Finnish countryside. From time to time, the boy visits his father - a man of great violence - in prison. Locked in the stable is an unruly horse, the boy's only other companion. Their simple life is disrupted when a stranger appears, with a note from the father and a bullet in his side. Reluctantly, mother and son offer the stranger refuge. The first feature from, Jukka-Pekka Valkeapää, director of the award-winning short "The Fall", "The Visitor" is a powerful and transcendent story of mystery and betrayal, love and conflicting loyalties, a tragic myth unfolding against a landscape of stark natural beauty and brooding latent violence. angielski The poetically evolving story is soon overshadowed by a rather bleak undertone, which gradually evolves into a considerably depressing atmosphere from which there is no escape. All of this is greatly contributed to not only by excellent cinematography but also by various noises, sounds, and music. It's definitely a very unusual film experience that made a strong impression on me, although I'm not at all sure I'd like to see it again. The cast is also worth mentioning, led by the great Vitalij Bobrov as the mute boy, but Pavel Liška as the mysterious farm visitor is good too. (85%) ()
