angielski I really didn't think I’d see this version of The Last Waltz so soon. I thought only the German version with Horn was available to me. In general, I know only a few English language versions, a little from Lilian Harvey's work, so otherwise, it's more about Hollywood productions, which in turn added versions in European languages. I’m therefore celebrating this bit of progress and barely have time to enjoy the other pros. It's very interesting that these versions of "The Last Waltz" are not similar at all, as both films treat the original play in completely different ways. The German version is a spicy melodrama, while the English a playful operetta. Music plays a much more important role here, and how could it not, since Novotná boasted a much-appreciated soprano voice? Novotná is very girly here, her hair is lightened and I like her very much in this form. It's a nice change from the typecasting of her other film roles. It's a shame for us and for her that she didn't reflect so much on other films. ()
