Bobby (Jesse Bradford) zostaje warunkowo zwolniony z więzienia. Wraca do mieszkania, zmarłej niedawno w niejasnych okolicznościach, matki. Chce rozpocząć nowe spokojne życie. Szybko zauważa, że w budynku dzieje się coś dziwnego. Jest przekonany, że w mieszkaniu obok, sąsiad, oficer policji, dręczy żonę i córkę – ale nie jest w stanie tego udowodnić. Ze ścian dobiegają przerażające odgłosy, których nie można w żaden sposób racjonalnie wyjaśnić. Chłopak zaczyna podejrzewać, że śmierć jego matki nie nastąpiła przypadkowo. (Cineman)

Ultimately, The Echo is an average film for me. It's not outright bad, but I look at it differently when I know that it's a remake. It's like the film automatically loses something. Even with the songs, I prefer the original versions. Yes, there are exceptions to this rule, but The Echo isn't one of them. If you missed out on the original film, then this definitely won’t be a waste of time for you.

I don’t want to shout it, but I think the fad of American remakes of Asian horror film is finally a thing of the past. The Echo seems to be one of the last representatives of this wave that captivated most horror fans for ten years, and, naturally, it’s not worth much. A very overcooked story with woeful performances and no terror at all.
